I normally just grocery shop, but this time I ordered a whole duck and 2lb crispy pork belly for Thanksgiving. The butchers let me choose the duck I wanted and offered to chop it up for me. I was expecting the quality to be less than a dim sum restaurant, but boy was I surprised! Even though the duck sauce they provided was in packets, it was DELICIOUS and the perfect sweetness component to a savory, umami duck. The skin retained its crispiness after being in a container with the steam and the moisture lasted for days after being refridgerated and reheated. This was my favorite dish! The crispy pork belly was my husband's favorite. There was a better balance of fat to flesh ratio than most pork bellies and the top was crispy as advertised. It had a nice salt level and enough moisture that no sauce was needed. Although somewhat pricey, the quality and convenience makes it worth it- especially for last minute Friendsgiving meals. TLDR: quality and convenience was worth the price!

I love this store and the employees, I really do, but I bought a bag of mangosteens for $16.50 (2 1/2 lbs) and I can't open a single one of them!!! I'm so upset. Going back tomorrow to get a refund!! Ok, bye.

So this 99 ranch is new but the prices are quite a bit higher than average. The items are fresher but at quite the cost. The durian was very good and tasted fresh! (All durian imported are frozen) This photo was one of the weird things I saw. Not sure about that. The gardena location is much cheaper however the meat and fish are fresher at the Torrance location.

I always wondered why they built and opened one so close to another, but I stopped wondering almost immediately because this was really a great idea. The one not-so-far from here can get crowded with so many other places it shares its parking lot with, so I welcome this addition as it only relieves the other place of the workload, per se. It's new, it's different. It is a lot roomier with the addition of food stands and such. (I liked this a lot and will make use of 'em on future visits!) I also noticed they have products the other didn't which really isn't a big deal one way or another for me since I live so close to both. And the one thing I really liked here is the self-checkout option. Pricing is similar, if not the same. Veggies and meat options were aplenty. The entire place was clean with no signs of clutter. Didn't really have any interaction with staff. They're both close to home but I normally go to the other for convenience (it's a tad bit closer.) But I'm glad of this place being here - contingencies are always a plus!

Woohoo! Just a few months new. This 99 is much better than their Gardena location a occupies the real estate where Office Depot used to be. The hubby needed some specific items for a hot pot gathering that his friends are having as his friends will be doing the cooking. This is the place for Asian groceries! We amazed at the low prices on produce. Good selection and prices but I know the veggies would need to be used used or consumed not long after purchase. We got salads, snow peas, and bok choy. I love bbq pork buns and there was quite a selection of different brands. That was an item we purchased. We also checked out the meat section and I made a purchase from the small Filipino food section. We got a bunch of various Asian beverages from calamansi juice, Sanzo sparkling waters, and coconut juice. We even stopped by the friendly sample lady and tried this jello like sample that is supposed to promote instant energy and we did purchase it as we liked the samples and even got a nice reusable cloth bag that came with. There is also a cafeteria type hot food section and hanging ducks. There is a floral section with lovely bouquets and orchids. Our cashier seemed shy but, efficient and kind. 4 stars! We will be back. :)

The good: I'm too psyched! Finally, an Asian grocery store that sells Vietnamese vegetables and fruits! I've had to drive to Long Beach or Gardena before but this will be my go-to Viet herb spot now. They had fresh mangosteen, longan, lychee, rambutan, and much more. For veggies they had Thai basil, Viet perilla, fish mint and many more. These were some of the stuff I was missing when I went to H-mart. They have a bakery and a Chinese deli area with duck and roasted pork. They had some super cute looking cakes. They sold flowers as well. The fruits and veggies area is very organized and clean with a lot of pre-packaged selections. The bad: Some items were more expensive than what I could get elsewhere. Example, the jumbo frozen shrimp and lychee. It's February and they still have Christmas decor in the bakery section. This is smaller than their other locations I've been to. The interesting: In San Jose, most folks refer to this market as Ranch 99 despite it being 99 Ranch.
